Report highlights interesting new and innovative vendors, products and services that are impacting Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM) in 2012.

e-Cycle, a global company focusing on mobile buyback, data protection and recycling, today announced it has been recognized in the “Cool Vendors in ITAM, 2012”[1] report by Gartner Inc.

e-Cycle is among the Cool Vendors highlighted for offering innovative and intriguing technologies or solutions. e-Cycle protects sensitive data for companies while recycling their mobile devices to the highest standards of financial and environmental responsibility. In addition, e-Cycle is the world’s only mobile buyback and recycling company to earn the stringent and independent e-Stewards certification.

“We are pleased to have been named one of Gartner’s 2012 Cool Vendors, as it is a testament to the hard work our employees undertake daily to make a difference for our customers,” said e-Cycle CEO Christopher Irion. “The report recognizes what we see daily: Organizations face an enormous looming ITAD challenge in the rapidly growing area of mobile devices. We believe our secure, cost-effective and environmentally responsible approach to wireless recycling sets us apart in today’s marketplace.”

Among the key findings in Gartner’s report is the following: “The global ITAD market has historically been largely focused on workstations (PC desktops and laptops) and traditional data center assets (servers, storage systems, telecommunication equipment and so on). Yet, our research indicates that most organizations face an enormous looming ITAD challenge in the rapidly growing area of mobile devices. For example, Gartner estimates that, in 2012, about 226 million mobile phones will be retired from use by businesses worldwide (this excludes consumer retirements), and that by 2015, that number will reach about 289 million. These numbers will be further compounded by the relatively nascent (from the perspective of disposition) tablet market, which is also projected to grow at a torrid pace.

“It is on this specific mobile device market (mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, etc.) that e-Cycle has exclusively focused its disposition business.”
