Adapting to meet the challenges of a remote workforce

Associates can simply pack their used devices into materials found around the house and drop them off at a local return box to avoid contact. As a result of this shift, tracking and reporting weekly arrivals and processing has become a key component of measuring success and managing assets for IT managers. The pandemic is requiring IT professionals to adapt quickly to the changing environment and partner with industry leaders to build programs to meet these rapidly changing needs. IT managers are beginning to fill the increased demand for not only procuring remote equipment but tracking these assets and maintaining them in a remote environment. To meet this unique demand, recycling companies are expanding their capabilities to include asset inventory and takeback platforms. If a mobile device needs to be upgraded, remote associates can log on to their internal systems, request an upgrade or replacement, and generate a shipping label so they can send their used device back for asset recovery.
Many recycling industry experts expect this sudden shift to a mostly remote workforce to stick around after the pandemic ends. Major industry leaders are already signaling that they will allow their workforce to work from home permanently.
