Be Sure You Protect Your Data Before You Sell Your Used Apple iPhone to Offset the Cost of Buying the New Apple iPhone 5 | e-Cycle

With Apple’s September 12 announcement of its faster, lighter and thinner iPhone 5, many businesses are expected to upgrade their fleet of corporate mobile devices. But when it is time to upgrade to a newer technology, one of the biggest problems organizations will face is what to do with their used mobile devices.

These devices that were once so critical to the workforce are quickly cast aside as obsolete. This happens to thousands of mobile phones every day. However, nearly 100 percent of Apple devices still retain a significant resale value, even after 24 to 36 months of use, and can be reused in developing countries overseas where the technologies are highly valued and desperately needed.

In fact, organizations can recoup 75 to 90 percent of their initial investment in their Apple technologies by implementing a timely and responsible mobile reuse and recycling program. Mobile buyback revenues equate to tens-of-thousands of dollars for e-Cycle’s enterprise clients annually.

There is one more important thing for businesses to consider when reselling and recycling used mobile devices, and that is data security. Organizations should not base their mobile recycling decision solely on price and hand over their outdated devices to just anybody. Data security does not end when a phone is retired. Mobile devices are archives of confidential data and if a device is discarded, donated or reused improperly, private data can be accessed. Often, sensitive information remains even after the phone has been brought back to factory settings.

Be certain your mobile buyback company has rigorous processes in place to permanently remove the data on every device, as well as secondary quality assurance testing. If you depend solely upon individual employees to clear data on the devices, you are taking a serious risk of your sensitive corporate information ending up in the wrong hands.

A recent audit from e-Cycle’s internal operations department found that 27% of devices from enterprise clients who claim to have pre-wiped their mobile phones prior to sending them for recycling still contained sensitive information, including key customer contact information, personal photos and videos, and pin numbers.

e-Cycle, the first mobile buyback and recycling company to become e-Stewards certified, provides industry leading end-of-life data protection and ensures mobile security for outdated iPhones and other smartphones. e-Cycle collects used cell phones from businesses, providing reimbursement for all devices that retain resale value. All other devices are recycled at no charge. Using rigorous data protection measures, e-Cycle ensures that the information stored on every device is completely erased. The Verizon iPhone Reviews are In! | e-Cycle

The anticipation for the release of the Verizon iPhone was built slowly over the course of many months, with some of us waiting years for this device. Now the waiting has paid off, as the Verizon iPhone has finally been released to the general public.

This has meant a number of things. It offers the iPhone to an entirely new segment of cell phone users who did not want to previously switch providers. More importantly, it also adds a competitor in the iPhone game, which was a segment of the cell phone world that used to be owned by AT&T.

With so much excitement surrounding the release of the Verizon iPhone 4, it would be difficult for it to live up to such lofty expectations. However, the reviews surrounding its release have generally praised the phone, citing its strong call quality as a major upgrade over the AT&T version. Fewer calls are being dropped and users are experiencing a clearer and more enjoyable conversation on this phone.

What else are the reviews saying about the Verizon iPhone 4?

From a hardware standpoint, there isn’t much that differentiates this from the previous AT&T iPhone. Most of the reviews choose to focus on the reliability that the Verizon network brings to the iPhone. Calls are consistently connected on the Verizon iPhone 4, offering users uninterrupted and high-quality phone conversations.

By all accounts, the Verizon iPhone 4 is just as good as its predecessor, if not better. Verizon has managed to address the issue of call quality that has plagued the iPhone in the past, making this version of the iPhone 4 a perfect choice for many consumers.
With the number of positive Verizon iPhone reviews that are out there, you might be thinking of switching over to this exciting new phone. That being said, you will want to sell your iPhone (or any other mobile phone) to not only make some money, but to protect our landfills from electronic waste.

Sell your iPhone to e-Cycle today and rest easy knowing that your data will remain private as well. Plus, it helps to know you’ll be getting a great new phone in the Verizon iPhone 4.

Verizon iPhone Pre-Orders Begin on February 3 | e-Cycle

News continues to trickle in about when consumers will be able to get their hands on the long awaited Verizon iPhone 4, with the most recent news circling around the ability to pre-order the Verizon iPhone through the online Apple Store.

Current Verizon wireless customers will be able to pre-order the iPhone 4 starting tomorrow, February 3rd at 3am EST (set those alarms!). Pre-ordering is available through Apple’s online store and on Verizon’s website. Delivery and in-store pick-up begins on Thursday, February 10th. Non-Verizon customers will have to wait to order the iPhone 4 with online pre-ordering beginning Wednesday, February 9th.

Those who don’t pre-order their new iPhone should realize buying the iPhone 4 in-store is unlikely. High demand for the iPhone in both Apple and Verizon stores is expected and phones will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Other than camping outside Verizon and Apple stores, it seems pre-ordering online is the best bet to guarantee there is an iPhone 4 with your name on it.

After ordering your Verizon iPhone, head over to e-Cycle’s sell your iPhone page to make room for your new purchase. We’ll show you how to recycle your old AT&T iPhone safely and securely and get a few bucks back in your pocket. Happy iPhoning!

iPhone 4 Commercials Play to Verizon iPhone and AT&T | e-Cycle

With the announcement of the Verizon iPhone two weeks gone, Verizon and Apple have already begun promoting their new partnership.

The first Verizon iPhone commercial was posted this past weekend on Verizon’s YouTube channel. The commercial plays upon the years of waiting from iPhone and Verizon customers through a series of ticking clocks, with the last turning to 12:00am and a woman whispering “Thank You”. There is no mention of AT&T or the Verizon Google Android, leaving the commercial strictly Verizon iPhone.

A second iPhone 4 ad aired this past weekend, this time put out by Apple. The ad shows two iPhones working side by side on the same processes but with slightly different images and websites viewed. Ending with a side-by-side FaceTime conversation, the iPhones are removed to show both AT&T and Verizon logos followed by “Two is better than one”. In contrast to Verizon’s ad, Apple’s iPhone 4 spot nods to both providers, showing each as equally important to the iPhone 4.

Whether customers stay with AT&T or switch over to Verizon, the iPhone 4 remains the best choice for smartphone in 2011. With the fastest processing system, HD video, 5 megapixel camera and access to the world’s most popular App Store, a Verizon iPhone or AT&T iPhone 4 are both wins.

You can let e-Cycle help you get the most out of your iPhone 4 by selling us your old AT&T iPhone or other wireless device. We’ll be sure your private data is securely removed and your phone is recycled safely, preventing any environmental damage.

Once you’ve got your new iPhone 4, you can use your buyback money to buy apps or iPhone accessories and know you’re doing something good for yourself and the environment.
