CEO of mobile phone buyback, data security, and recycling company named 2011 Central Ohio Small Business Leader in EcoBusiness category
Hilliard, Ohio, November 16, 2011 – The Columbus Chamber of Commerce honored e-Cycle (www.e-Cycle.com) CEO, Christopher Irion, with the 2011 Small Business Leader Award in the category of EcoBusiness. Winners were acknowledged at the Small Business Forum and Leader Awards on November 15, 2011. This program celebrates exceptional leaders in the central Ohio area that have owned and operated a small business for more than three years.
Columbus-based e-Cycle works with nearly 7,000 organizations nationwide; including some of the largest companies in the world, and has purchased or recycled more than one million devices since 2005. e-Cycle provides businesses and organizations complimentary mobile phone recycling and data security services, while at the same time increases their revenue with a wireless buyback program.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized as a business leader in the Central Ohio community, especially with the many outstanding small businesses in the region,” said Irion. “Thanks to the hard work of the Columbus Chamber, TechColumbus, The Ohio State University, and many other engaged business leaders, this city offers a supportive entrepreneurial environment that has provided e-Cycle with an ideal setting for small business growth and development.”
Irion continued, “I attribute this award to e-Cycle’s loyal enterprise clients who maintain a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, as well as the dedication and enthusiasm of the e-Cycle team. We are thrilled to be recognized for our hard work and commitment and we look forward to expanding our operations and creating many more employment opportunities in 2012.”
Earlier this year, Irion was named the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Cleantech division for the South Central Ohio and Kentucky region and was recognized at the national awards in Palm Springs. e-Cycle was also named the #3 fastest growing, privately-held company in Central Ohio at the 2011 Business First Fast 50 Awards.
Ranked the #5 fastest growing environmental services company in the U.S. by Inc. 500|5000, e-Cycle helps organizations take a more responsible, secure and profitable approach to wireless recycling. The company collects wireless phones from businesses and major organizations, reimbursing them for devices that retain value and recycling all others at no charge through an ISO Certified, EPA-registered facility. The company has a zero landfill policy. The information on every phone is either deleted or destroyed through the industry’s most rigorous data security measures. e-Cycle is the market share leader among the Fortune 1000, serving financial institutions, manufacturers, healthcare organizations, government agencies, educational institutions, and technology companies, among others.
