Q. Who could benefit from the e-Cycle program?
A. e-Cycle’s services are perfect for any company or charity that wants to dispose of their old equipment in an environmentally responsible way, keep their data secure, and receive money back at the same time.
Q. What type of equipment does e-Cycle accept?
A. e-Cycle accepts all makes, models, and carriers of cell phones and smart phones—used, new, even broken. We also accept accessories, including cell phone chargers, headsets, batteries, air cards, and car adaptors.
Q. Is there a fee to use the e-Cycle program?
A. No, e-Cycle’s services are complimentary. Even if all you send to e-Cycle are broken phones or accessories, we will gladly recycle them at absolutely no cost.
Q. Why should I recycle my cell phones?
A. Cell phones and smartphones contain precious metals, copper, rubber and plastic—recycling conserves these resources, saves the energy used to mine and manufacture them, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Toxic materials in the devices, such as lead and arsenic, are disposed of properly, preventing air and water pollution. As wireless devices grow in popularity, recycling also keeps tons of waste out of our nation’s landfills.
Pricing/ Payment
Q. How much money can we get for our old phones?
A. The amount that you can receive for your devices depends on the makes and models you have. e-Cycle publishes a monthly price list of what devices we will purchase and how much you will receive for them, provided they are in working condition.
Q. What if the model I have is not on the price list?
A. Older phones that are not on our price list do not have a secondary market demand. However, we are always happy to secure the data and recycle them at no cost. If you have a newer phone that is not on the list, contact an e-Cycle representative for pricing.
Q. How often do the prices change?
A. e-Cycle updates its price list monthly based on fluctuations in the secondary market prices for wireless devices. When a shipment is received at our location, the current month’s pricing will be applied.
Q. Does e-Cycle accept “new-in-box” phones?
A. Yes, we do accept “new-in-box” devices—call an e-Cycle representative for pricing.
Q. How do we get started using the program?
A. Simply contact us by phone or e-mail. If you have 30 or more devices, we will send you some prepaid, pre-addressed shipping labels. From there, just put all of your phones and accessories into a sturdy box, send them, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Q. If we have fewer than 30 devices, can we still use the program?
A. Yes, we just ask that you pay the shipping costs to get the devices to e-Cycle. Or you may wait until you have collected 30 devices or more and then ask for shipping labels.
Q. Do we need to delete the data from the phones before sending them to e-Cycle?
A. No, data security is a top priority and one of the complimentary services we provide.
Q. What does e-Cycle do with the phones once they receive them?
A. Phones that are sent to our facility are either recycled or resold. Recycled phones sent to an EPA-certified recycling facility.
Q. What information is included in the audit report?
A. The audit report is a detailed inventory of your shipment that lists devices by manufacturer, model, and value—it is sent to you once processing is complete.
